Cut is soil excavated from the site; fill is soil placed to raise the ground. We look for opportunities to reuse suitable excavated soil where engineered fill is needed, reducing the amount that must be hauled away or brought in.
At the same time, we evaluate ways to reduce retaining-wall lengths and heights, limit excavation, and simplify construction. A balanced earthwork estimate is one part of the decision: soil suitability, compaction, access, drainage, and geotechnical recommendations also matter.

The goal is a practical design that avoids unnecessary soil movement and retaining structures. Actual savings depend on the site, contractor pricing, soils, and permit requirements. Some properties still need significant excavation, export, or retaining walls.

Yes. We compare driveway routes, pad elevations, and grading options to identify opportunities to reduce wall heights, wall lengths, excavation, and soil hauling. The feasible solution depends on geotechnical recommendations, drainage, agency criteria, and the building design.
Can all excavated soil stay on the property?
Not always. Available space, soil suitability, compaction requirements, and permitted slopes affect how much soil can be reused. We evaluate cut and fill together with the geotechnical recommendations; a zero-export result is not guaranteed.
Can you separate house and driveway earthwork?
Yes. Where included in the scope, we can identify building-area and driveway quantities separately and show a combined site estimate. This makes the source of excavation and fill easier to understand.
Can you provide a 3D terrain model?
Yes. A model can help you and your design team see how grading, a driveway, and building pads relate to the hillside. The agreed survey, design assumptions, and model detail determine what it can show.
Do you also handle driveway and fire-access design?
Yes. We evaluate driveway geometry, grades, transitions, and turning areas using the responsible agency’s criteria. Final acceptance remains with the reviewing agencies.
